After about 1–2 hours exploring the ruins and taking in the atmosphere, enjoy a light lunch or break in Agrigento. In the early afternoon, move on to Turkish Steps, a truly striking natural formation: white marl cliffs shaped like giant steps down to the turquoise Mediterranean.
Relax on the nearby beach, snap photos, or just soak up the contrast of the brilliant white rock and blue sea.

Valley of the Temples

Explore an awe-inspiring archaeological landscape where ancient Greek Temples stand in a dramatic setting on a ridge above the modern town.
You’ll walk through what was once the sanctuary of the ancient city of Akragas, admiring majestic Doric-style temples such as the Temple of Concordia, one of the best preserved in the classical world.

The route typically begins near the Temple of Juno (sometimes called Hera) and follows the so-called “Sacred Way” through olive groves and the remains of city walls and necropoleis, offering both panoramic views and a deep sense of antiquity.
As you walk, you’ll reflect on millennia of history, from the Greek colonists who erected these monuments over 2,500 years ago to later Roman, Christian and modern visitors who have gazed at this divine valley.

Turkish Steps

The Scala dei Turchi is a brilliant white marl (a type of limestone/ argillaceous rock) cliff that rises above the sea in the municipality of Realmonte, in the province of Agrigento.
Its smooth terraces and staircase-like formations have been shaped by wind and waves over many years.
The name comes from the legend that “Turkish” pirates (actually Saracens) used to land here and climb the natural steps.
